The University of Pisa organises cross-disciplinary teaching modules aimed at offering its doctoral students the opportunity to acquire useful skills (e.g., academic English, statistics and computer science), as well as to promote knowledge of the ways in which research results can be disseminated and intellectual property protected. Other courses deal with technology transfer, European funding programs, as well as other topics of general interest for graduate and post-graduate life, such as open science, digital culture, ethical implications of research and gender issues.
First-year students must attend two cross-sectoral modules of their choice and the course in English for Research Publication and Presentation Purposes offered by the University Language Centre.
Second year students must attend two cross-disciplinary modules of their choice.
